North Portland Poets (NoPoPoets)
NoPoPoets@yahoo.com
We are poets in the North Portland area, including St. Johns, Vancouver,
inner NE, and basically anyone willing to travel to our part of the city
to become part of a supportive and safe forum. We meet the third Sunday
of every month (sometimes different locations) to break bread (or soup,
or cheese and wine, or cheesecake - whatever moves you) and share our
poetry, get feedback, experiment with new styles and forms, share news
of poetry events in the city, and generally hobknob with other poets.
Our purpose is to create a friendly, supportive and free flowing exchange
of ideas among creative people, especially those "closet poets"
among us who have a recurring affair with words and seek others simply
to share their creations in an easygoing atmosphere.
Traveling writer wants to read in Portland
I'm a writer/poet from Milwaukee, WI and will be writing my next book
this summer while riding around the country on a motorcycle. I'll be using
a digital voice recorder with an attached microphone placed in my helmet.
The files transcribed will become the book American Lesion-written entirely
while moving. I'm going to stay away from cities for the most part, but
I want to drop in to a few to do a couple readings here and there. I want
to see if there is any way I could arrange a show in Portland, if there
is any specific venue you'd recommend I contact, or if someone with Portland
Writers could assist me in booking a show. When you have a moment, please
visit my website at www.eddiekilowatt.com to see some of my work. I thank
you very much for your time, or any directions you can point me in.

Writer wanted to do reviews
Can you recommend one creative writer at the Portland Writers for
a project to write three compelling reviews of the short stories on www.talesofourtime.com?
We are looking for a single, skilled writer who has the breadth and depth
to bring absorbing literary insights to their reviews. They can participate
in order to add the reviews to their writing portfolio or because critical
creative writing is just what they do best.
If you read the sampling of reviews posted on the Reviews page of www.talesofourtime.com
you will get a better sense of what we are looking for and the depth of
talented writers who have already contributed to the Tales of Our Time
experience.
With over 100 of my short stories and a dozen novels to review, compensation
is impractical and, while many of our reviewers are seasoned writers and
participate because they enjoy the experience, others are younger authors
who want to add the reviews to their writing resumes.

I am forming a poetry group for people interested in sharing their poetry
This is an opportunity for poets, who are interested, to share their
poetry and voice with other like minded people. Eryn and I are trying
to organize a poetry group that would meet once a month and share poems,
ideas, passions, etc. There are two of us so far, but we need some more
participants to make this work. The admission is only a desire to share
your poetry in a safe environment, and a willingness to receive critical,
open minded feedback from other struggling poets. If you're interested
then please email one of us at the email addresses below and send us a
sample of your poetry. If we feel like you will be a good fit for us and
our poetry then we will contact you.
Thanks, Nate Jensen
